While we enjoy talking with people, no one calls a lawyer just to shoot the breeze. You call a lawyer because you are facing a difficult issue or have a great business opportunity. Have you just lost your job or are you going through a divorce? Perhaps you were involved in a car accident, or suddenly find yourself the executor of an estate. Maybe you are starting a new business or purchasing a franchise and need to know the landmines.
In all these situations, you need an experienced advisor. Should things go badly, you need a forceful advocate. Clients retain us because we fill both roles. We counsel people and small businesses going through employment conflicts. We represent people going through divorces and custody disputes. We handle personal injuries, wrongful death, and malpractice cases. We guide businesses from their start up, when they need to close down, and everything in between.
Our attorneys will provide you the accurate advice you need, regardless of your legal issue. We advocate on your behalf with respect, experience, and maturity. Our attorneys are experienced litigators and have over 100 years of courtroom experience.
No matter your problem or opportunity, when you need a lawyer, we are here for you.Welcome to Cook Craig & Francuzenko, PLLC
Cook Craig & Francuzenko, PLLC was originally formed by our founding partner, John Cook, in 2007. Alexander Francuzenko joined in 2009, and Christopher Craig in 2012. Throughout this time, CC&F has consistently grown, adding several lawyers and areas of practice, and in 2019 Broderick Dunn joined the management team as a partner. In spring 2020, Alanna Williams joined the firm, expanding the firm's practice areas.
Our attorneys have several decades worth of combined experience in the practice of law and are recognized across the region as leaders in the law. They contribute as educators, participating in lectures and articles to benefit other attorneys and the general public, as well as participate in community service and volunteer work. From our office in Fairfax we practice in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, in all levels of state and federal court. Our cases regularly take us as far south as Norfolk and as far north as Baltimore, and occasionally we are called upon to serve in matters spanning the country.
We represent executives, employees, and small businesses with employment and personnel matters. We are the voice for victims of sexual harassment, racial bias, and wrongful termination. Through our robust personal injury practice, if you’ve been injured by someone or are the victim of negligence or medical malpractice we can guide you through the process of recovering what you’ve lost, handle insurance-related matters and, if necessary, file and prosecute the claim.
We assist with all kinds of for-profit and non-profit businesses in a variety of matters, such as contracts, dispute resolution, litigation, intellectual property applications, registrations and management.
We address a variety of legal issues facing non-profits, such as charities qualified as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), social welfare organizations qualified under Section 501(c)(4) of the IRC, political action committees, and candidates for elective office.
Family law is an immensely personal area of representation. We will work with you to determine the best course of action for your situation. Whether you are considering separation, are ready to begin the divorce process or need to modify child custody and support or spousal support, we can help. If your circumstances include domestic violence and neglect, we can help.
Our attorneys represent parties in litigation involving constitutional and civil rights, consumer protection, and campaign finance laws, as well as off-beat matters such as neighbor-to-neighbor or landlord/tenant and lease disputes, defamation and the like.
We can also help you with your estate planning needs, ensuring that you and your loved ones are protected through proper Powers of Attorney, Advanced Medical Directives, Revocable trusts, and when needed, Special Needs Trusts and Self-Settled Spendthrift Trusts, which provide creditor protection.
As we hire skilled and reliable administrative staff, our attorneys are free to focus on the substance of our clients’ cases — communicating personally with the clients about their cases, communicating with opposing counsel, performing in-depth research, drafting documents and shepherding your case through the court system. We utilize advanced case-management software so that our files are at our fingertips, allowing us to electronically organize a high volume of documents, and increase our responsiveness to clients, opposing counsel, and the Court.
